Academics

Accreditation

We have earned dual accreditation through National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA) and North Central Accreditation (NCA). They are recognized and acknowledged by the Colorado Department of Education.

Bethlehem Lutheran School has a favorable reputation among local school districts, and its graduates are readily accepted into 9th grade by schools throughout the Denver metropolitan area. We have cycled through four programs of accreditation in 1990, 1997, 2004 and 2011 and continue to work towards excellence in serving the young people placed into our care.

Achievement Testing

Students at Bethlehem Lutheran School take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills at the end of February each year and always score above state norms.

Homework

On average, all students can anticipate about 10 minutes of homework per grade level each night. For instance, a second grader could expect to have about 20 minutes of total homework on an average evening; a third grader could expect to have about 30 minutes; a fourth grade student could expect to have about 40 minutes.

Discipline

Students at Bethlehem Lutheran School are expected to maintain the highest Christian standards of courtesy, kindness, morality, and honesty. No one has the right to interfere with another person’s (child or adult) right to learn, think, create, play and worship.

Misbehavior is normally handled by the classroom teacher, however repeated or severe misbehavior is managed by the principal or School Vision Implementation Team. Detentions, if needed, are served after school on the Tuesday or Thursday nearest to the date the detention has been earned.

Grade Reporting/Conferences

Official Parent-Teacher Conferences are held twice a year, in the fall and spring. However, parents can request a conference at anytime to discuss student progress or concerns and we encourage this personal interaction between teachers and parents.

Report Cards are issued four times a year and mid-term reports are issued half-way through each grading period. Additionally, grades are available on-line to parents at any time through TeacherEase.
